Responsible on preparing and revising academic program plans , promoting and serving as a model for teaching achievement and professional service, develops strategies to achieve educational goals and objectives.Initiate academic integrity and quality education in the college by articulating policy and procedure to members of the school. Provide training to the teaching staff so it can maintain teaching excellence and conduct research on new trends in academic initiatives. Oversee Academic Programming
Coordinating, facilitating and quality control of academic programs is one of the responsibilities of a Dean. This may include strategic planning, budgeting and allocation of funds, implementation strategies and observing and evaluating professors in the classroom. Deans work closely with professors and staff to ensure all academic goals are being met and the curriculum is appropriate.
Develop Policies and Procedures
Developing and overseeing policies and procedures for the department, college, or school they oversee. Some Deans may help draft these themselves, while others may oversee committees whose role is to work on policy drafting. Deans are also responsible for ensuring all accreditation criteria is being met for their programs and seeking out accreditation for new programs.
Participate in Admissions
Work with teachers and staff to create admission criteria for each program. They may also oversee and assist students who are going through the admissions process by answering questions, reviewing documentation and financial information and advising students on the best suited program for their needs.
